In this session, the faculty will review the etiologies of outpatient and community-acquired pneumonias. In addition to current antimicrobial resistance patterns and use of local antibiograms, you will learn about selection of appropriate therapeutic agents as well as duration of therapy. This session also covers the new ASP (antimicrobial stewardship program) CMS recommendations—inclusive of po and IV agents—as well as the role of penicillin allergy in selection of therapy and the need for allergy testing.
