Gerald W. Smetana, MD, is a practicing internist and clinician educator in the Division of General Medicine and Primary Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He was a recipient of the Society of General Internal Medicine National Award for Scholarship in Medical Education and has authored position statements for the American College of Physicians. He has directed continuing medical education courses for Harvard both nationally and internationally. His interests include perioperative medicine, headache, hypertension, and evidence based clinical evaluation. He is a Master of the American College of Physicians.
