Manual Medicine CME/CE Workshop with Frank J. Domino, MD, at Pri-Med West
Manual Medicine CME/CE Workshop with Frank J. Domino, MD, at Pri-Med West

Description:

Many musculo-skeletal complaints can be treated by manual medicine techniques, lessening the use of pain medication and improving patient outcomes. Osteopathically trained physicians learn these in depth; but the basics can be learned by any clinician. This workshop will focus on rapid physical exam and treatment techniques that you can easily integrate into your practice. The patient will walk out of your office feeling better, with a useful patient education handout and a referral to physical therapy, rather than a handful of prescriptions, an x-ray order and a referral to orthopedics.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the basics of Manual Medicine techniques
  • Be able to easily integrate techniques into practice, lowering pain medication use and improving outcomes
  • Learn how to document and bill for these interventions
  • Practice hands on maneuvers including facilitated stretching and use kinesio tape
  • Learn how to better assess your patients injury/pain to then employ an appropriate manual technique

This CME/CE workshop is a Ticketed Event that carries an additional $99 registration fee. You can add this workshop to your itinerary either during registration or by logging into the Registration Resource Center if you are already registered.

Pri-Med also offers non-CME/CE workshops in Anaheim, California, on topics that are important to clinicians. In partnership with Lieutenant Dan Stout, EMT-P, formerly of the Gainesville Police Department, Pri-Med has developed a trauma management scenario-based course, in which you’ll become familiar with the concepts and equipment commonly used with Public Access Trauma Kits. In addition, whether you’re a seasoned clinician with years of experience, or you’re fresh out of medical school or your residency, we’re here to help support the next steps in your primary care career. We’ve partnered with Creative Planning, LLC, to provide financial planning and wealth management overviews so that you and your practice are set up for fiscal success.

Trauma Management: Public Access Trauma Kit Familiarization with Hands-On Scenario-Based Application

Tactical Medical Solutions

5:15−7:15pm | Thursday, September 3
Not for CME/CE credit

Faculty: Lieutenant Dan Stout, EMT-P; Gainesville Police Department, Retired
Brought to you in partnership with Tactical Medical Solutions

Description:

With all the events we now face in modern times, the likelihood of being present during a critical incident involving injury is ever increasing. Those events could be acts of violence such as an active shooter, terrorism event, or other criminal act. Additionally, they could be a result of accidents such as vehicle crashes, recreational injuries, or even a workplace incident. Lastly, they could fall into the category of a natural disaster such as a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, flood, or fire. Whatever the “Mechanism of Injury” is, the result is patients who are seriously injured and potentially in great numbers.

Just as AED’s have become more common and accessible, so have “Public Access Trauma Kits.” These kits are mounted similarly to AEDs in common, public places where anyone can access them should the need arise. Even the most highly trained personnel like you do not always have access to their normal compliment of equipment or resources, especially when they are “off duty” or not at work. These Public Access Trauma Kits allow professionally trained personnel the ability to render aid as well as lay personnel who have been trained.

This course will familiarize clinicians with the concepts and equipment commonly used with Public Access Trauma Kits. Through lecture, hands-on repetition, and scenario utilizing hi-fidelity/hi-technology trauma manikins, attendees will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to utilize a Public Access Trauma Kit effectively. Topics that will be addressed will include:

  • Tactical considerations such as “situational awareness” and potential response (Run/Hide/Fight)
  • Legal: Duty to Act, Good Samaritan, Abandonment, and Deliberate Indifference
  • Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)
  • Quick Triage and Patient Assessment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) skills utilizing common components of Public Access Trauma Kits
  • Considerations for Casualty Evacuation
